Zac Goldsmith visited the Richmond-based Poppy Factory, the country’s leading employment charity for veterans with disabilities, on Thursday 21stDecember.
The charity has been running since 1922 and increasingly supports veterans with mental and physical health conditions getting back into work across the UK. Zac was able to hear about the progress of the charity’s Getting You Back To Work programme which has helped over 850 veterans secure jobs since 2010.
The charities buildings are no longer fit for purpose and plans have been put in place for a renovation that will create an accessible, inclusive and educational workspace for both staff and the wider local community. After lobbying by Zac, the Chancellor of the Exchequer agreed to award The Poppy Factory £2.5 million to support the renovation and help it reach its £6 million target.
