On Friday 26th April, Zac Goldsmith MP organised a coffee morning with local Councillor Roy Arora, at local ex-Councillor Cathy Roberts house in the Grove’s area of Coombe Vale Ward. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss traffic calming measures for the area with residents and the Grove’s Association.
In recent years, the Grove’s Association – a local resident’s group – have beenlobbying Kingston Council to address traffic congestion and pursue improvements in the area. Sam Walker, a parent from the nearby Christ’s Church Primary School, who started a petition requesting Lime Grove to be made one-way outside the School was also there. The petition follows several near collisions between car users and school children on the road outside the School.
Attendees of the meeting discussed various proposals to address the issues and it was agreed that Councillor Roy Arora would work in conjunction with local groups and Kingston Council to find a solution. It was clear that making the area safer was a key priority and that a resolution would be reached to please the school and local residents.
