At 7pm on Wednesday, 12th of September, Zac Goldsmith is hosting a public meeting for commuters at Duke Street Church in Richmond, to discuss transportation. Zac will be chairing a panel including senior representatives from South Western Railways, TFL, and Network Rail. The evening will be an opportunity for attendees to put their questions and concerns directly to railway providers.
Prior to the public meeting on Wednesday, residents have been out bright and early at railway stations across the constituency, speaking to commuters and encouraging them to come along and have their say on their commute.
In conjunction with the public meeting, Zac has been asking his constituents to complete a survey of their commuting experiences, the results of which he will be presenting to the Rt. Hon. Chris Grayling MP, Secretary of State for Transport. Over 60% of respondents have said they experienced delays on at least a weekly basis, with some experiencing daily disruption. 64% of those surveyed so far also expressed dissatisfaction with the way in which problems with services were communicated to them.
Zac said: “Wednesday will be an excellent opportunity for commuters to feed back to the train companies’ representatives what their experiences are of using the train services in Richmond.”
