Zac Goldsmith MP discusses rising crime against businesses and concerns of business owners in Barnes
On Monday, Councillors, local business owners, police – including Inspector Simon Ross, Sgt Metcalf, and Sgt Les Jackson, met at the Olympic Studios in Barnes to discuss crime levels in the area, and what to do about it. The meeting was organised by Emma Robinson, the Barnes town centre manager.
The police provided crime statistics for the area, and emphasised the importance of local businesses reporting any and all crimes to the police. Residents asked about the possibility of increasing CCTV coverage in the ward.
“There certainly seems to have been an increase in crime in the borough and residents and businesses are understandably anxious. I recently met with the Home Secretary and Police Minister to raise the issue of police finding, and I will continue to put pressure on the government to ensure our police are properly resourced.”
