MP for Richmond Park and North Kingston and Environment Minister Zac Goldsmith joined ministerial colleagues on stage at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester to discuss clean growth and protecting our environment.
Zac argued made the case for increased funding to protect international rainforests and biodiversity. He stated that the UK is leading the way on climate change. Speaking of his recent visit to the United Nations, Zac applauded the UK’s commitment to doubling the amount of money it spends tackling climate change, and to spend much of that uplift on nature-based solutions.
Members of the audience put questions to the panel about the UK contribution to protecting forests, pressuring supermarkets to reduce plastic waste, and measures to tackle climate change without hurting the British economy.
Zac said: “Speaking to members today at our party conference, it was great to be able to share the Conservative Party’s vision for protecting the environment and improving animal welfare, and to hear from members of what environmental priorities matter most to them.”
