Proposed Redevelopment of Canbury Business Park Planning Ref: 17/12877/FUL

A planning application has been submitted for the above site. The proposal is for the demolition of all existing buildings and includes a 14 storey tower block as well as a mixed development of business and housing units. The majority of residents I have spoken to fully accept that the site would benefit from being redeveloped, but they do not feel that the height, scale and density are appropriate or in keeping with the area.

The planned date for a decision from the planning department is the 16/2/18. Should the officer recommend approval, Councillors who sit on the Development Control Committee (DCC) would subsequently determine whether they agree or disagree with the initial recommendation. If the officer recommends refusal, the application is turned down and would not go to (DCC).

I am working with the Canbury Councillors to set up a small focus group of community activists to discuss the site and application. I hope we can persuade the developer to work with us and the local community to put forward an application that is more appropriate for the area.

A Public Meeting will be held with residents and the Developer in January and I will be in touch as soon as I have a time and date for it.
