About ZacBorn 20 January 1975, Zac Goldsmith was raised and educated in Britain.
After leaving school, Zac worked in the US for two years with a number of environmental organisations. He joined the Ecologist magazine in 1997 and became editor. He launched campaigns on, among other things, climate change, GM food and pesticides.
The Ecologist has influenced environmental and political agendas across the world since its launch in 1970. Published in six languages, and despite repeated attempts, it has never been successfully sued.
In between his work with The Ecologist and the Conservative Party, Zac raises funds for groups around the world dealing with a broad range of environmental and conservation issues. He helped to establish a number of Environmental foundations that distribute funds to cutting edge campaign organisations. In 2003, Zac received the Beacon Prize for Philanthropy. In 2004 received Mikhail Gorbachev’s Global Green Award for 'International Environmental Leadership'.
In 2005, Zac was invited to oversee the Conservative Party’s Quality of Life Policy Group, which helped develop the Party’s policies on issues ranging from transport, housing and energy to food, farming and the countryside.
Zac was selected as the Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Richmond Park and North Kingston at an Open Primary In March 2007.
In September 2009, Zac’s book, The Constant Economy, was released. It looks at the key environmental problems we face, and provides a workable programme for action.
In May 2010, Zac was elected as MP for the constituency of Richmond Park and North Kingston
