Chris Grayling MP comes to Kingston

Conservative parliamentary candidate Zac Goldsmith today welcomed Chris Grayling, Shadow Home Secretary, to North Kingston.

Both visited the Barnfield Youth Centre and Fernhill School, before attending an open meeting at the Hawker Centre. Questions at the open meeting ranged from proposed Metropolitan police cuts to the new national vetting database for all who work with children.

Mr Goldsmith said:

“The current Labour government has an obsession with central control. Their new vetting database and ID card scheme will be hideously expensive to implement and will encroach on honest people everywhere. I want priority to be given to frontline services, like local policing.”

Last week Mr Goldsmith warned that the proposed loss of 400 officers from the Metropolitan Police force would be an expensive mistake in the long run.
